BlackBerry is going down the drain according to most reports and pundits, but the new CEO of the company John Chen is holding ground. He recently informed CNet during an interview that they are working on a new phone that can possibly make consumers not only come back to BlackBerry, but also turn things around when it comes to Android phones and iPhone market share
Chen says that Q20 is for long-time BlackBerry consumers who are accustomed to the experience. However, he said they are working on another device that will be aimed at winning new customers, and it can arrive in the market at the end of the year, but he doesn’t guarantee
He also finally said that when it comes to newer devices, BlackBerry will be having a better marketing strategy, and will be aiming for an out-of-box experience rather than the customized interface, and they’ll be putting their own marketing dollars behind these devices.
We think there are very slim chances of BlackBerry making a statement, even with the mysterious device, unless it’s something magical. What are your opinions?
The company is already striding in the right direction according to the report. They announced BlackBerry Z3 and BlackBerry Q20 at the MWC 2014.
Chen also said they are also trying to convince people to upgrade and use a better phone, referring to the partnership with Verizon and AT&T, though he didn’t point out any carrier names.
