In 2006, an assistant to a high profile agent at a big talent agency in Los Angeles got a call from someone claiming to be Steve Jobs, to which he hung up, assuming it was a prank.
He got a call for the second time within a few minutes, with the opposite person again saying “Hi. It’s really Steve. Can I please talk to [agent]? I have an important matter to discuss.” The assistant hung up again, saying “Don’t call back again.”
The third time he got a call, the person on the opposite end said: “Hi. I know you don’t believe me, but hang up, look at your Caller ID, do a reverse lookup of the number, and you’ll see that it’s from Apple. Call that number back and ask my assistant for me.”
After the assistant verified that the number was indeed from a line at Apple, he called Steve Jobs’ assistant, who said “This happens a lot. He’ll be right on.”
It turns out that Justin Long, the Mac in the Mac v/s PC ads, was the agent’s client, and Jobs wanted to shoot another batch of the Mac v/s PC ads, for which he needed to get in touch with the agent.
