iOS 7.1 includes references to two new iPad models

Apple released iOS 7.1 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch earlier today, and the release supports two new iPad models numbered iPad4,3 and iPad4,6, in addition to the existing array of devices.
While the models are unannounced, their model numbers suggest that the two new iPads are minor hardware revisions over the existing iPad. The current-gen iPad Air has model numbers iPad4,1 and iPad 4,2 while theRetina iPad mini has model numbers iPad4,4 and iPad 4,5. Based on a calculated guess, the iPad 4,3 might represent a tweaked iPad Air while the iPad 4,6 might represent a tweaked Retina iPad mini, though it’s not exactly clear what these tweaks will actually be. In the past, these small hardware revisions covered anything from anything from a smaller A-series chip to a different chipset for China.
Apple, many-a-times, silently updates current generation products with slight improvements that come with no formal announcement. The third-gen Apple TV, for example, was labelled “3,1”, but an updated revision with a smaller A5 chip bumped its model number to “3.2.”
What do you think the tweaked models could represent? Let us know in the comments below.
