Apple to stop production of 13-inch non-Retina MacBook Pros this year [Report]

A new report claims that Apple is looking to permanently stop the production and sales of the 13-inch non-Retina MacBook Pros in the second half of 2014. This comes less than a year after its 15 inch sibling was discontinued.

This move has been long expected in a bid to maintain an all Retina lineup for the Pro notebooks along with the 11 and 13-inch MacBook Air lineup.
As it stands right now, the 13 inch standard MacBook Pro only costs $100 less than the entry level Retina MacBook Pro, which is unlikely to impress potential buyers. The Retina MacBook Pros are expected to receive a refresh later this year with Intel’s latest Broadwell chips, although the exact date of their arrival is unknown at the moment.
Apple is certainly moving in a new direction with its all Retina MacBook Pro lineup with a 12-inch model rumored to launch this year. It remains to be seen if Apple will cut the price of the 13-inch non-Retina MacBook Pro clear out its inventories.
