Pegatron will start production of the iPhone 6 by Q2 2014

According a report from China, Apple’s supplier Pegatron will begin the production of the iPhone 6 by the second quarter of the year. The company is expected to start assembly in its Kunshan plant in China which was opened recently. Pegatron is also expected to open a new manufacturing unit to accommodate for the high demand.

Apple handed Pegatron the responsibility of assembling the iPhone 5c and the iPad Mini last year along with Foxconn. This was done in order to eliminate any supply chain related risks which could potentially impact supplies. It is said that Pegatron could share more of the responsibility with Foxconn/Hon Hai for the iPhone 6, although the exact figures haven’t been disclosed as of yet.
These sources haven’t clarified as to when the new iPhone will land in the markets. But since the supply chain is expected to start production from Q2, it’s safe to assume that the smartphone would be ready for a launch in time for September or October, which is when Apple refreshes its iPhone and iPad models every year.
Rumors have pegged the iPhone 6 to launch in a 4.7 inch and 5.7 inch display configurations, although suppliers have been relatively quiet about this particular aspect of the upcoming flagship. We can also expect to see the new iOS 8 operating system with adedicated fitness and health oriented app called Healthbook.
